Get access to The Backroom (100+ exclusive podcast episodes) on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/OneDime This is an older bonus episode originally released exclusively in The Backroom. I’m releasing it publicly in part as a reminder of the kind of longer, less filtered conversations Patreon supporters get access to. In this episode of 1Dime Radio, I am joined by political theorist Benjamin Studebaker to revisit the idea of the “neo-left” and ask whether Pedro Sánchez and Spain’s Socialist Workers’ Party represent an alternative to neoliberalism or a left-wing way of administering it. We discuss immigration and labor power, borders and imperialism, the constraints imposed by the European Union, Spain’s tourism and property-driven growth, and why the Spanish model may not be the blueprint for the left that some imagine it to be.
