Show notes
"Garth Marenghi's Darkplace" is a British comedy series that premiered on Channel 4 in 2004, starring Matthew Holness as fictional horror author Garth Marenghi. Presented as a long-lost television series from the 1980s that was considered "too radical" to air at the time, the show follows Marenghi as Dr. Rick Dagless, a doctor at Darkplace Hospital who battles supernatural forces. Intentionally terrible acting and bad dialogue help create a parody of low-budget '80s horror television. "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace" lasted just six episodes and attracted little attention during its original run, but the years have been very kind to it. The series developed a devoted cult following. So will the S1E1 boys discover something special lurking inside Darkplace, or should this lost '80s series have stayed lost? Listen as they deep dive the series premiere, "Once Upon a Beginning" and find out.
